Great tool for teaching children about "stranger danger" and much more.
I was wondering about what and how to teach my children about safety concerning strangers and other people that they are beginning to come into contact with. I found this video and was sold by the endorsement of John Walsh of "America's Most Wanted" and Julie Aigner-Clark of "Baby Einstein". This video is extremely comprehensive. It covers the dangers of strangers..but also those termed as "Kinda' knows", people that you know, but should not trust without the express consent of your "Safe side adults", those adults that you can trust without reservation, like parents. This video is comprehensive, but extremely fun to watch. The idea is for kids to watch it multiple times so that the principles of staying on the "Safe side" will become second nature. Highly recommended
An excellent introduction for children on how to react to strangers.
The horror stories in the news and the endless stream of Amber Alerts can terrorize a parent while a child will remain innocent and naive to the concerns we parents have. Stranger safety, as it's referred to in this video, is not presented in a way to scare children. Far better; it teaches them in a fun and easy to understand way. The lessons are never over bearing and more importantly everything easily can lead to some valuable parent/child discussions. All in my entire child finds it fun to watch. This video talks TO your child and not AT them. It lightly discusses the dangers and uses cleaver and sensible labels such as "Kinda' knows" (people your children learn to trust but need to know the firm boundaries, like their soccer coach). Then there are "Safe side adults" who are adults to be trusted without reservation, like parents. It talks about your safety zone and presents things in a fun green/yellow/red light guide to common daily situations. I highly recommended this video to any family.
Learn Safety w/o Fear
This is an absolutely GREAT video to show kids. It will inform them about safe behavior and stranger danger. Super Safety Chick will make you and your kids LAUGH OUT LOUD while learning great safely lessons. The actress herself a former abuse victim, and worked on this video with Julie Aigner-Clark, Baby Einstein creator, and John Walsh, America's Most Wanted Host. Aigner-Clark ensures that the video is child appropriate. Walsh brings a credibility to the subject matter. Super Safety Chick is amazingly funny and attention grabbing. My daughter has repeatedly asked for this video, and that doesn't happen often. All of this w/o the "fear factor" rates earns this video a rating of 10+!
